Important: ihipportal.com is an independent guide. It is not run by MoHFW or NCDC, it has no login box, and we will never ask for your user ID, password or OTP. You sign in only on the official IHIP portal at the government address listed below. If any page, message or app asks you to type your IHIP password somewhere else, close it.

Most sign-in problems in the field are simple: a wrong address saved in the browser, a password typed with Caps Lock on, a captcha that expired, or a mobile number in My Profile that is no longer in use, so the OTP never arrives. This guide walks through each case, in the order a new ANM, data entry operator or lab user usually meets them. If you are still learning what IHIP is, start with our IHIP portal guide first.

The official IHIP address (and the old one)

The current IHIP home page is ihip.mohfw.gov.in. Its footer reads "Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government Of India". The IDSP reporting application sits under the path ihip.mohfw.gov.in/idsp. That is the page S, P and L form users open every day.

Older IHIP user manuals (Software Version 10.0, last updated 11/02/2020) gave the address as ihip.nhp.gov.in, with shortcuts ihip.nhp.gov.in/idsp and idsp.nhp.gov.in. Those nhp.gov.in addresses are superseded by ihip.mohfw.gov.in. If an old bookmark, a printed training handout or a WhatsApp forward still shows the nhp.gov.in address, update it. We have not tested whether the old address still redirects, so do not rely on it.

Simple rule: the address bar should end in .gov.in and should start with ihip.mohfw. Anything else (a .com, a .in without gov, a shortened link) is not the government portal. Read more on the address change in IHIP vs the old IDSP portal.

How to sign in, step by step

The IHIP manuals describe a short sign-in screen. Follow these steps on the official site:

  1. Open a browser and type ihip.mohfw.gov.in/idsp yourself. Do not click links from unknown messages.
  2. Enter your username exactly as issued. The example IDs in the manuals use lowercase letters and numbers.
  3. Enter your password. Check Caps Lock first.
  4. Type the 4-digit captcha shown on the screen.
  5. Click Sign In.
  6. On your first sign-in, complete My Profile. Make sure the mobile number is correct, because password reset OTPs go to this number.

Each user ID is tied to one health facility or one laboratory. Your ID's role decides which form you work on: the S form for a Health Sub Centre, the P form for a health facility, or the L form for a lab. The manuals also ask users not to change the initial password for six months. Your district may give different local advice, so follow your DSO.

Stay safe. IHIP has one official address: ihip.mohfw.gov.in. This guide has no login. Never share your IHIP user ID, password or OTP with anyone, including callers or messages that claim to be from the district or state, and never send patient details to unofficial groups or websites. Password resets go through your own login page or your district surveillance unit.

Understanding your IHIP user ID

IHIP user IDs follow a pattern. The lab user manual gives this example: lb28cht0051. It breaks down like this:

PartExampleMeaning (as in the manual)
PrefixlbLaboratory
State code282-digit state code
Districtcht3-letter district abbreviation
Facility number00514-digit facility number

State-level IDs in the manuals look different, for example sso28 for a State Surveillance Officer and stateadmin28 for a State Admin. The example IDs above are from the manuals only. Your own ID is issued by your state, and you should never post it in a public group.

Knowing the pattern helps when you call for help. You can tell the district team, "my ID looks like a lab ID for our district", without reading out your password.

Getting a new user ID: there is no self-registration

IHIP has no "Register" or "Sign up" button for health workers. The "User Manual for Administration Menu" (Software Version 9.9, 14/11/2019) says only the SSO manages user accounts: "Under this functionality the SSO can add new user".

The route for a new ID works like this:

  1. Tell your Medical Officer or IDSP nodal officer that you need an ID (new facility, new lab, or staff change).
  2. The DSO raises a "Request for new user id" in the portal. If the facility itself is new, the DSO first raises a "Request for New Health Facility".
  3. The SSO approves or rejects the request.
  4. Once approved, ask your DSO how the ID and first password will be passed to you.

So if a website or an agent offers to "create an IHIP ID" for a fee, that is not how the official system works. Who does what across sub-centre, district and state is explained in IHIP user roles.

Forgot password: Reset Password with OTP

The L form user manual describes a self-service reset. On the official site:

  1. On the Sign In page, click Reset Password.
  2. Enter your username.
  3. An OTP is sent to the registered mobile number, that is, the number saved in My Profile.
  4. Enter the OTP on the portal screen only.
  5. Set a new password and sign in with it.

If the OTP does not arrive, the most likely reason is that the number in My Profile is old or wrong. In that case the SSO can reset your password: the Administration manual says the SSO can do this through "Edit" then "Reset Password". Ask your DSO to forward the request. An OTP is meant only for the portal screen. No helpdesk, colleague or website needs it from you.

Common sign-in errors and what to try

What you seeLikely causeWhat to try
Page will not open or looks differentOld nhp.gov.in bookmark or a lookalike siteType ihip.mohfw.gov.in/idsp yourself
Wrong username or passwordCaps Lock, extra space, mixed-up IDRetype slowly; check the ID with your DSO

You see the wrong formID mapped to another facilityReport to the DSO; do not enter data under it

These are our general troubleshooting suggestions, not official error messages or official fixes. For anything that looks like a portal fault, the manuals point to the in-portal Report Problem form, where you describe the issue and can attach screenshots. Hide any patient details before you attach a screenshot.

Helpdesk number: from the manual, please check

The IHIP manuals show a toll-free IDSP Helpdesk number, 1-800-180-1104, at the top of portal pages. We could not confirm that this number is still live in 2026, so treat it as "from the manual, check before relying on it". The manuals give no helpdesk email address.

Do not confuse this technical helpdesk with 1075, which older IDSP training material lists as a call centre for disease alerts and which is now widely known as a national health helpline. For login trouble, your first contact is usually your DSO and the district surveillance unit, who raise ID requests with the SSO.

Keeping your account safe

Your IHIP ID records official surveillance data for your facility. A few habits keep it safe:

  • Never share your password or OTP, even with a supervisor. If someone needs access, they should get their own ID.
  • Sign out after use, especially on a shared PHC computer.
  • Use only the official IHIP Android app from the portal's own Downloads menu, not an app from an unknown link. See our IHIP app guide.
  • Do not save your password in a browser on a shared machine.
  • If you think someone else used your ID, tell your DSO the same day.

Once you are in, the next step is filling the right form. Our S, P and L forms guide explains which one your ID will show.

Frequently asked questions

What is the official IHIP login website?

The official IHIP portal is at ihip.mohfw.gov.in, and the IDSP reporting application is at ihip.mohfw.gov.in/idsp. Older manuals mention ihip.nhp.gov.in, but that address is superseded. Always type the address yourself and check that it ends in .gov.in. ihipportal.com is an independent guide and has no login.

How do I get an IHIP login ID?

You cannot register yourself. According to the IHIP Administration manual, the DSO raises a "Request for new user id" in the portal and the SSO approves or rejects it. Ask your Medical Officer or IDSP nodal officer to start the request with the district surveillance unit. Your DSO can tell you how the approved ID and first password will reach you.

How do I reset my IHIP password?

On the official Sign In page, click Reset Password, enter your username, then enter the OTP sent to the mobile number saved in My Profile, and set a new password. If the OTP does not arrive because the number is outdated, ask your DSO. The SSO can reset passwords through Edit then Reset Password in the admin menu.

Is the IDSP login different from the IHIP login?

Today IDSP reporting happens on IHIP, often called the IDSP-IHIP portal. The same IHIP ID is used at ihip.mohfw.gov.in/idsp. The separate older IDSP web portal and the nhp.gov.in IHIP addresses belong to the earlier setup. Your ID type (S, P or L form, DSO, SSO) decides what you see after you sign in.

What is the IHIP helpdesk number?

The IHIP manuals list a toll-free IDSP Helpdesk number, 1-800-180-1104, shown at the top of portal pages. We could not confirm that it is still working in 2026, so check it before relying on it. The portal also has a Report Problem form for technical issues. For login problems, your DSO is usually the quickest help.

Can I log in to IHIP for daily reporting on my phone?

The IHIP manuals mention an Android app, offered from the portal's Downloads menu, and S form reporting by health workers through the mobile app. Use only the app from the official portal and sign in with the ID issued to you. Never install an app from an unknown link that asks for your IHIP password.
